Now here's an interesting bike. Interesting because it didn't leak and never, ever broke down, despite being ridden daily. Brit bikes are constantly criticised for these two problems. Leaks I had in previous Brit bikes, but never breakdowns, despite all having Lucas parts in abundance. And the most interesting thing, when referring to leaks, the vertically split crankcase is always front and centre. I had leaks from side covers, rocker covers, primary chain adjusters, oil pipe inlets, drain plugs, but never did I have one from the vertical split in the crankcase, never new anyone that did, never heard of anyone that did and never, ever saw one. Funny thing about myths, if they are spruiked often enough, eventually they become gospel!
All bikes have something wrong with them, this one had two appalling wrongs - it wasn't 650 cc and it had the gear change on the left. And you can blame the Japanese for both!
