Just out of curiosity - Airplane Guys

Richard Pierce.

I grew up in NZ learning that a NZ'r was the first to Fly a maned flight with a heavier than air craft. It was never recognized but it seems he had made several distance, (up to a kilometer with turns), flights at least 6 months before the wright Bro's were recognized as the first.

Howdy gents!

Another cool video on the Napier Sabre aircraft engine. This thing is really a different beast, although his pronounciation of Napier in the Part 1 video makes in my ears bleed).

I know, it made me grit my teeth, too. Even with a second shot at it, he still gets it arseways.

....and now from the RC model world, a 12-engined monster....

What amazes me is that they got all 12 engines running and kept them all running throughout the flight. Model aircraft engines can be tricky and that is why most modern multi-engine models use electric power with LiPo batteries. They are easy to synchronize and virtually never fail in-flight.

...and please note: this IS a real aircraft - it is just smaller than the full-sized version.

It certainly sounds like a real aircraft, and seems to handle like one.

I just wish the guy on the loudspeaker would shut the hell up so I could listen to it!

This is a pet peeve of mine on machinery videos in general. Either they're talking over everything or playing some lame "music".

Yes, the sound was very impressive for a scale aircraft. Also fully agree with DE about the self-important idiots who always get hold of the PA system believe they need to fill every second with their inane commentary.
It's one of many reasons I cannot watch sporting events. As a child I loved baseball and I listened to my team on the radio nightly. You could actually hear the chatter of the fans and the peanut vendors over the radio because announcers didn't feel the need to tell you about the pitcher's dog's upcoming neutering. True professionals in the 60's and prior, they knew that it was the event people came to hear and see, not them.

Today on the VFT site. I watched a great YouTube video of this last night.

A few years back, there was one in town ( Jacksonville, Fl) selling rides. I believe it was this very plane. I was tied up and couldn't do it but hope to the next time it's in the area.
