Grandson came by to get his V-Star out of hibernation which meant I had to move bikes around. Then I had to touch up the tire pressures on his bike, so I checked mine too. Then, seeing as everything was ready, registration and insurance were up to date and it was outside anyway, I decided to bundle up and go for a quickie.

Just touching 50 degrees so a serious ride was not gonna happen but a 15 mile loop with a stop at the gas station seemed doable. Took the Ninja to check out the aftermarket seat I installed to replace the freakin' plank it comes with. YUGE improvement!

That little turd is living testament to the adage that "It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow." I'm even mulling over the idea of selling the FJ. I need to do a long ride on it to see how my knees/back/hips react to the different ergonomics. It hasn't been a problem but I haven't done more than 40 miles at a stretch yet either.

Spring Verdant
The willow trees along the watercourses are greening up, the tulip trees and forcythias are just starting, daffodils are puttin' on a show, must be Spring!
The last couple days have been mid to high 20's, apparently almost breaking a record from 1941 when there were no SUV's.
Nice to be riding with the light gloves on.

70 glorious miles of backroad wandering. mmmm
Five daze of warm has the hills starting to color, trees are budding, some understory is getting leaves, next week will be back to "real" Wisconsin April weather.

To hear you speak of Wisconsin I cant help but think of Peter Egan's writings of riding through the backroads of Wisconsin....sure do miss his writings.

Time to break out his books and re-read them again. ;)

Are you a horticulturist?

Ladies and gentlemen, I am FINALLY leaving Green Bay!!! I'm heading south. To SHE BOY GAN, WI. I bought a house with a much larger garage to do the required work on "Michaela"!
Is it too much to ask for an introduction. I grew up in Sheboygan, left for service and a career and returned 18 years later to raise a family. PM me if that works.

Trashed the castle nut cotter pins on the "Red Bike" so headed off to the "Oldest full service hardware store in North America, opened 1850" (Maybe I got that wrong) for 2 59cent cutters. Then my brother claimed a goose had a nest on his property with 7 eggs and one golf ball so I stopped at the farm. I didn't verify the eggsituation,

Finally getting around to giving the ol' XS1B a little love.
Testing and evaluating some new mods, and some aimless wandering about the county.
We're still in an "Exceptional Drought" out here, but it appears that our Oak trees are trying to recuperate from the ice storm of 2021...View attachment 242362
I rode through "hill country" on my way back from Sturgis in '18. Amarillo to Brady then on to Fredericksburg, Llano (for lunch at Coopers) then on to points east. Beautiful scenery, wonderful people.
