If you have a batteries plus near you, the same battery is around $10. I'm running a 1.2ah ups battery and had one go flat on me after a few months while running the stock rectifier/regulator. Once i upgraded to a bridge rectifier and AMC regulator, the new battery has been fine.

While I haven't used one on my XS650, I picked up one of these for my '97 BMW.

Right out of the box, I knew this thing was going to be a game changer. I can hold it with my thumb and pinky. It is unbelievably light. It's smaller in every direction. I could totally see using this type of battery for something custom... It's supposed to hold a charge for like 3 years, I'm just blown away.
