Blasting Engine - What Parts to Remove?

Thanks guys. I appreciate the responses. I'm contemplating doing a top end tear down but I want to find a good link on it first.

Any thoughts on the pictures above? Has anyone else had that much caked on oil in that area and gotten it off??

A lot of top end oil actually comes from the oil tube at the front of the engine.
The oil tube often gets pinholes at the rear end ( facing the cylinder ). If you
have the old original tube remove it and check this out. Its tough to pressure
wash anything and not get it inside the engine. Keep away from any joints and
seals. Joe
