Dear XS650 enthousiasts,

I'm currently rebuilding a XS650 engine. I got to the point at which I have now wet blasted all case parts and I'm very happy with the results (see photo's). However, I luckily discovered some blasting grit in a opening inside the bottom case. I have removed lots of the grit but I'm unsure if I will be able to remove all correctly.

I am now contemplating if I should remove the part shown on the picture (don't know how to call it). I am able to remove the screw but than I have no clue on how to remove it correctly. The next question would be, how do I place the part back the correct way if I should remove it.

I'm sorry for my english, just a Dutch guy trying to make something out of it! All help will be much appreciated!

Kind regards,

Niels

That is the pivot for one of the starter gears and I believe it is pressed in, no need to remove.

But do wash out all your cases thoroughly, especially the oil passages.

I did the same thing when bead blasting my cases and spent 3 times as much time making sure none of that grit was left anywhere.

Used brushes, lots of water, some parts cleaner fluid, blasts of air and long sections of wire to probe all holes and passages.

Nice, working in the Kitchen. Very understanding spouse. ha ha ha

Cases look great, what else is used with the water blasting?

Good Luck Cleaning!\
