Quick question for all you engine gurus out there. I have a 73 and I'm rebuilding the engine. boring the cylinders and a general clean up. Looking around on the net I'll find engine parts and sometimes it would just be easier to buy a good used part instead. I know that the major difference in the tx and xs is the crank and rods but are the cylinders, head, and rocker box the same? What major parts can be interchanged?

Ben

Cylinder, head and head cover (rocker box) from any 447 engine will fit your TX650 motor just fine, Ben, although if you're retaining the original compression release starter you'll need a TX650 or XS2 left side exhaust rocker to use with it. Be sure you use the right head gasket--eBay vendors often misidentify these. Gasket surface design is different on the XS1 and XS1B heads and barrels, but same from the XS2 forward.
