desperate help! 83 heritage hardtail.

I'll repeat; The o rings that seal the float valves to the carb body are notorious leakers and you have gas in your oil. IF they have not been replaced do it now. It is easy for you to put a clear plastic line on the float bowl drain bend it up along side the carb and check fuel level, about at the float/body seam is the correct level.
 
Hey Guys! Just wanted to say Thanks so much!!!!

I ordered new float valve seats and intake manifold gaskets and the XS oval pods. Seems to have cured the problem. Just one last "?". I ave a 83 Heritage Special, 145 mian 45 pilot and have the fuel mix screw set at 2.5 turns. sound about right? I read alot of stuff about turn it to 3 turns but that was with stock jetting I believwe.

Oh and not gas smell in the oil anymore! i dont know how that was even possible. LOL
 
On the BS34 carbs the only over flow for the float bowls is into the air intake or into the engine.
