Did I lace this wheel correctly?

Howdy, this is my first shot at lacing a wheel. Did I do it correctly? I've tried looking closely at pics and I think its correct. Its a 64 spoke heritage hub with a 21" rim hoop.

All the spokes (inner and outer) on one side of the hub go to the "outer" holes on the rim. From what I can see in other peoples pics, this is correct. The guy in the YouTube video did not do it this way, from what I can tell. I think he went to the "inner" holes on the rim.

I didn't have a complete wheel to compare to, just the hub and a 21" rim/spoke combo.

Please let me know if this looks correctly laced. Thanks.

Chris

I just tried to start snuggling the nipples up, I think I have an issue. I was going to give each spoke 6 turns, and when I got to the end I noticed a pattern. I have 4 nipples in a row that are close to snug, then 4 in a row that are at least 1/2" away from the nipple head contacting the inner rim. These 4 in a row that are loose all go to the outside of the hub (2 to the left outside, 2 to the right outside).

I just checked my spoke piles (there are spares in the kit I guess) and the inners (with the head that isn't quite bent to 90 degrees) definitely went on the inside of the hub. The shorter spoke is the one on the "inside" of the triangle that is created (if that makes sense).

Maybe this will help explain what I mean.

Spokes 1-4 are the loose ones after 6 turns. They all go to the outside of the hub. (The arrow shows which side)

Spokes 5-8 are the fairly snug ones after 6 turns. They all go to the inside of the hub.

i just completed the same setup. what it looks like is your spokes are one hole off at the hub. meaning to say- you got the pattern correct, and the spokes in the proper holes in the rim. you also have one hub flange correct, but the "back side" flange the spokes need to be taken out and moved over one hole. i cant tell from the pics if thats one hole left or one hole right, youll have to see.
that make sense? its hard for me to explain without pointing and gesturing.

That makes sense to me, how to I figure out which way I have to clock the spokes over?

Maybe this pic will help, using the hub webbing as a reference point.

In your pic, you have the inner spokes going the same direction on both sides. Is that right? Other pics I'm looking up show the spokes going the opposite direction.

Well, I have it back together again. Can anyone confirm if this is correct? Sparkys inner spokes all go the same direction, mine go in opposite directions (per side).

I can take more specific pics if needed. I just really need to know if this is put together correctly.

mine very well could be wrong. im willing to believe that the old rusty one there is original and i have it backwards.

Yes. Looking around the interwebs, even 36 spoke wheels are done as you have done yours. Mine is wrong.
