Would the '72 fork caps work on '75 forks?

I doubt it, the 72 caps are designed with a recess that clamps a ridge in the top triple hole between the fork tube and the cap. The 72 uses this not pinch bolts like the 75 has. Also the hex head is larger than the tube, an assembled cap/tube would not slide up through the triples.
