The XS2 has two fiber steel plates and four all fiber plates and the rubbers between each plate. I installed 7 steel fiber plates and an extra steel plate (as per Mike’s) on my last XS2 that I sold. The guy later had problems with the clutch. I want to do something different on this build. Should I use the rubber spacers or not? I have always replaced the clutch plates on any restore. I was thinking of using the old ones.
What has everyone done on their XS2? Thanks. This is the best forum for the XS650 ever!!!!

I think I would "upgrade" to at least a later inner basket and pressure plate. It has teeth on the pressure plate that mate with ones on the inner hub. Your original pressure plate is only mated to the hub by the 6 spring screws or bolts.

I used a 75 basket and pressure plate with a Alto 8 plate setup in my XS2.

It isnt all that difficult of a job. Run what you've got til it's done. I looked mine over and it seems to be barely used and everything was still covered in oil so I just slapped it all back on.
