Back in August 2009 I rode the Viper V10 to Bruntingthorpe proving ground to a speed test with MCN. After a few warm up laps around 200mph I handed the controls to Bruce Dunn who turned in a speed of 207.101 MPH using only half throttle with its original 42” wide cow horn bars and no screen. When we analysed the gps data the viper had pulled a straight line acceleration on the graph from 60 to 207mph where as every bike tested prior to this would go into the curve around 180mph. I’ve since ridden it 10,000 miles
Anyone interested in a rust bucket 73 750? For sale cheap near me. Looks like its got all the parts. Those motors were notorious for failure due to counter-balancer and oiling/over-heating issues, as I understand it.
The swing arm is a sort after item in the XS650 community, heavy duty and swaps straight in.
The rear wheel is a straight in swap and the drum brake has a larger diamerter making for a stronger brake.
Front wheel, and guard are both a straight in swap
Gas cap is getting real hard to find, (in exelent condition will fetch over $100 or more on Fleecebay), and no aftermarket replacements. Fits on 73/74/75 XS650's
All those parts would fetch enough money to make it a worth while parts bike and Ditch the rest, but there is a market for good parts
One of the main things done to the motor was an extended sump. This stopped the crank from frothing up the oil causing the bearings/engine to seize.
If that bike has had that extension put on it, that alone is worth big money. There is a guy who makes and sells them on Fleecebay for a good price

You know the thing I’ve always wondered about, with these motorcycles that have had ginormous car engines installed in them……..why don’t the forks snap under all that weight and abuse?
