Introducing "Ol' Crusty" - An adventure in XS1

It was cool to run 5 states, 600+ miles, 13 hours, 3 rain storms and a few gas stops - all on bikes with NO batteries, Kick Only, and over 40 years old each.

Somewhere along the way, I tested the Aerodynamics of the XS1, the best I could...

Finally made it to Dan's at about 11:00 at night ( I guess, who knows, I was a bit delirious after that 90+ MPH run down I-75 for 2 hours:laugh:)

And yes, I know you are jealous of my fork seals.... Every single bump, these things are like a squirtgun, so until I find some better tubes, this will have to do.

The chopoff was cool (check the other thread for more pics) and the riding in Ohio was good, if you like lots and lots of corn

Another Member caught this image in Ohio during the ride, so I'll share it too.

The OEM rear shocks were blown to bits, so I bought a set of the XS1 Shocks from MikesXS. In order to keep all that shiny off of the bike, I swapped over the Sheetmetal work, and scuffed down the chrome, wiped em down with some old oil and dirt, and called it good..

It turns out, those shocks are horrible - even with the highest pre-load adjustment, they bottom out on everything. Worse than the blown out OEM units, so back to the drawing board.

Hugh,
I have a set of 34mm forks from my first road bike "roud" the brake mounts were bobbed off some time before i got the bike, and I have changed most of the bike down to the original frame, which turned out to be a xs1b that my 75 title didn't match.

I'm sending a e-mail. I think they would be good donors to you.

Haha, thanx for reliving my youth. That was a trip back in time. More than a couple of us (including gggGary) have cross-country'd on a '71. Of course they were newer back then, and didn't have those 'handbuilt' fork seals, but at least you got to experience that, and it's under your belt now.
