Nope. It was never meant to be an exact replica. Think of it more as my interpretation of a "retro" Triumph Speed Twin.Looks interesting.
Any plans for this.View attachment 180988
Don't think a Brit twin ever said where the kicker was.
Aw come on. TIG it full, smooth and polish. You'll feel better or at least I would.Nope.
Don't get me wrong, I thought about it. Problem is what alloy is it? If I don't use the right filler rod, there's a good chance it'll stick out like a sore thumb. Finally decided to listen to the Beetles and just let it be.Aw come on. TIG it full, smooth and polish. You'll feel better or at least I would.
If you have another cover you could test and find out. In my limited experience and humble opinion if it sticks well it will look fine. But then I've been wrong before.Problem is what alloy is it? If I don't use the right filler rod, there's a good chance it'll stick out like a sore thumb.

Inquiring minds would like to know. Or maybe better someone who has done it will chime in.
You guys are really tempting me ain't ya?Jim,
What if you took a busted cover and "shaved" a slice off it (band saw, grinder, etc.) and used that for your filler rod? It would be the same alloy, right?
Yep.You guys are really tempting me ain't ya?
I bought mine back when the Alpha TIG first came out... 4-5 yrs ago? Was hesitant buying a Chinese one, but I'd guess it's stood the test of time. It works great. The only niggle I have with it is the oddball foot pedal on the early ones. Suppose I could suck it up and buy the newer (more standard one), but they're kinda spendy. You get a new one?
