Sunny and 50 degrees F here in Syracuse, good enough for a Christmas Ice Cream Ride on the Winter Bike (the FJR).
If I ever make it to Coldwater Mississippi, I'll meet you at Red's BBq !!
Well, just do it! We can ride to Clarksdale. I can think of plenty to do.If I ever make it to Coldwater Mississippi, I'll meet you at Red's BBq !!
.
As we're having good weather for the last day of the year I thought I'd give my recently repaired speedometer a sixty mile test.
I made a short stop for a photo. This place seems made just for posing old vehicles for portraits.
Nice pics, thanks for sharing. I like the “then and now” photos of the cafe / theatre. It was 37 degrees when I got up this morning, by the time went riding it had warmed up to 44 and overcast. I was riding to the town of Wickenburg today. Along the way something made me stop and turn around. I’ve written about this old building before. It was built in 1899 as a hotel that served the railroad, it has been boarded up for all the years I’ve lived in Arizona ( 64 years ) View attachment 258796
Today as I passed it I noticed that it was no longer closed up, someone had repaired it and painted it. I turned around and pulled in, under the portico.

I went inside and met the woman running the place, they just did a sympathetic restoration on the place, new kitchen and bathrooms, but left all the rustic originality. They now rent the place out for events.

All The old original floors are there, and the wavy glass windows. She gave me the key to the upstairs , where the hotel guest rooms used to be, I had to go outside and up a set stairs to get to the upstairs rooms. View attachment 258801View attachment 258802

It was fun looking around the old place, I thanked her for the tour and headed on towards Wickenburg. I had a quick fast food lunch and then into the old downtown area. Here is the Saguaro movie theatre built in 1948 and still in operation today.

And on to Frontier street, this was the original Main Street. Theres the old steam locomotive that’s on permanent display, it was built in 1900.

great photos, very atmospheric, looks pretty much like the way we Brits fondly imagine the Old West.
A cracking ride Bob and an interesting place to visit. I love the re-opened hotel; be a good place to stay a couple of nights. Mind you the tin roof would be noisy in a rain storm.............
