Maiden Voyage

I've finally got my bike running decent, enough that its ready to hit the road. It's got good power, starts on the 2nd kick, charges good, and the timing advances as normal. 26,000 miles. I adjusted everything, but don't have much confidence in my skills, so valve clearance, timing chain tension and carb sync is all a crapshoot.

What should I pay attention to in the maiden voyage?

nuts and bolts rattling off the bike is my biggest problem sometimes. Check for that. And check the oil regularly.

What about spark plugs? I assume rich (dark) is better than lean and white?

When talking about leaning a motor out, yeah. A nice matte brown is good.
