Need Serious Advice

Yeah, they have to come out. That's why I am amazed the guy said he couldn't see a bad lifter. Well, if the hydraulic part is bad, maybe so... but even that is a stretch.

Even if the lifter were bad it would only clatter like hell-- it wouldn't cause the engine to break down.

That was the thing. It clattered before, I told him that when it brokedown, he said it was the cam, then told me it clattered after he put the new cam in and would cost more to fix that. So my, "It has coolant in the oil" fell upon deaf ears. But what do I know, he has 30 years of experience.
Oh, that's right, I know what water/antifreeze looks like in oil.
