Prototype printed and test-fit. Seems like it will work, but I need to make the production piece just a touch bigger. Carb boot end is a bugger to squeeze in and the pod end is a bit loose.

Filter Adapter V3 is just right and allows for plenty of adjustment of the position. Second one is printing now. Takes about 2.5 hours to print and a little work on the mini-lathe to trim the adhesion raft and flash.
I have made some similar adapters and velocity stacks from hollow POM stock. Basically thick wall tubing with, say 60 mm OD, 30 mm ID.

It would be easier, and certainly faster, to just turn them out of suitable PVC or other plastic stock. I don't have anything with sufficient wall thickness on hand, nor do I know of a source for any that wouldn't have a 3 figure minimum order.

Edit: McMaster-Carr has UHMW Rod in the appropriate size for $28-ish per foot which would work, so if the PLA from my printer isn't up to the task for some reason, I'll go with that.

I had very similar style carbs on my cb500t - consensus with them is they run like garbage with pod. The only way people could get them to properly work was with a stock air box.

Have you seen/talked to other who have ran pods?

After.

Most of the chrome polished up...okay... Long way from perfect but good enough for who it's for. If/When I get the bike running right and road-worthy, I may look at an aftermarket exhaust.
Have you run with the painted muffs?
Getting ready to paint this (Buell Ulysses) and VHT semi gloss black is the likely choice, I'm leaning towards no primer.

Let the next guy do it right...
After lots more sanding and dico wheel

I heeded my inner Kevin and sprang for the VHT high temp primer,

before hitting with the VHT header matt black. It's done now and spent the afternoon in the sun. Will do a series of heat cool runs on the bike to cure the paint, after mounting the new rear tire that just came in.
Back to your irregularly scheduled CX500 posts.

Honestly I would have just shot VHT black myself, flat or matte or semi. Easy enough to touch up before a sale... 😎
Just sprang for a Michelin rear tire and the full monte fuel pump repair kit from Aagaard Moto Foundry.

With the Beemer gone, if the repairs make it reliable, this will be the road trip bike.

You can see the back of the belly tank muffler takes a lot of road debris abuse. With a bit of luck should able to report back to DE on how the paint works/looks today.
There is a Brit bike rally about 60 miles away today, seeing if the Norton will make it there and back may change my work plans.
The relined tank, redone fuel lines and wiring survived a trip all the way to town yesterday, what could go wrong?

I guess swing arm off to replace the belt? What’s the life expectancy?

Have to drop swing arm down (and remove muffler) to get at the fuel pump inside the frame/fuel tank.

This is "a few years ago" replacement belt, they tend to not warn about end of life. Carrying a spare is a thing. Roadside belt change "doable" but not fun.
Bike has an aftermarket spring loaded belt tensioner. Inspection shows no belt cracking.....

Looks like a not so friendly design for maintenance and service.
