Part #15-6509 from mikes xs.

Website says it will fit all XS650's originally equipped with this sight glass in the RH side (Clutch) cover.

So has anyone here ever tried to put one on a clutch cover that doesnt originally have it? what would it take to make it work and also any history on this thing leaking?

Thanks Guys

as apposed to all the other leaking things on a 650? Imo, I wouldnt do it, You have a dipstick dont you?
Unless you can machine with a tight tolerance, I bet it would leak.
My suzuki has a sight glass, but, no dipstick.
judging by the picture, it seems straight foward, but, It might be 'keyed' to fit a certaian way. consider calling mikes and asking if it truelly is round or not.

Plus if you dont put it exactly in the correct place , it will be useless at giving you your correct oil level

not only that, but, the lines that indecate low/high are in the alum around the stock equipped glass. I suppose u could do without the lines, but?

If you want one, I'd just buy a used side cover that has the sight glass window already in it. If you have polished one, you could sell it and make a few bucks. The time you would have spent putting the sight glass in you could now spend re-polishing the new side cover. :twocents:

- hahahahaha...thanx for the clarification-had no idea what gordon was trying to say...just dont go putting that stuff in your XS unless you like slippery clutches...good for cleaning your motor though...over here large plastic coke bottles have the same thread as your dip stick-cut them down and they make good disposable oil funnels

Well I don't think that's exactly what Gordon was talking about, but that video is what I always think of whenever someone says that. "thinking with your dipstick" is the same as "thinking with your dick".
