There you go! I always liked brazing for thin metal, it flows nice and is surprisingly strong.
Is that undercoating that I can buy in a can?

C’mon @Jim, you gotta think about ‘elf ‘an safety what’s wiv the bare feet man?Rear fender...
We'll just say I'm not gonna use the fender Gary sent me and jus' leave it at that....
Scrounged around my pile of fenders and found one worthy of Madness.
Like a lot of 'em, it's cracked in the back. I've tried welding 'em in the past... and they always seem to crack around the weld. Lets try brazing this time.
Took the torch and burned inside the flange then wire brushed it for cleanliness.

Cut off a drill bit the right size, stuffed it in there and bent the flange back around it.

Got it hot and flowed some brass in there. This is where the extra time cleaning pays in bonuses.

Now I jus' got a little body work to do on it and it's ready to prime.
Way mo' betta' than undercoating. Sure keeps you from seein' "stars".Truck bed paint. Just seems to me a little more durable than the undercoationg stuff.

Like my buddy from Tennessee, I always say he never had shoes till he joined the Army. Got sent to Italy and met and married a girl from Verona. Boy was his mom pissed when he brought her home. She asked him if his cousins weren't good enough.Gotta be some hillbilly in there somewhere

Fender's primed. I'll do the body bits tomorrow. Also got the last of the dings on the tank... fingers crossed, I'll be shootin' blue tomorrow.
I do. What I use is a two part DTM (direct to metal) epoxy primer.Do you use the same primer on sanded chrome?
No cracks in yours. As an addendum in re fenders. For the "Red Bike" I had mine de-chromed at a plating shop and shot them with rustoleum primer when they were shipped back to me. I did not do a rear fender Crack inspection but Jim never mentioned an issue. I unwrapped stunning tank, side covers and headlight shell but the fenders remain wrapped as Jim shipped them in his patentable shipping method.
I'm guessin' you'll frown on my weldin' without shoes too then Adam?C’mon @Jim, you gotta think about ‘elf ‘an safety what’s wiv the bare feet man?
Reading this thread, I was surprised this may have been an issue. I looked at the big picture (bare parts) but never studied them closely. We learn so much...No cracks in yours. View attachment 244424
