Question on killswitch wiring

I would appreciate any help .I have an 83 xs650 eith a missing killswitch button. It has two wires sticking out red/white and brown. My question is do I have to conect the two together or keep them separated in order for the bike to run? I know im going to need to get a new switch eventually but im trying to trial an error a no spark situation and have limited funs.

The red/white and the brown wires should be tied together to make the bike startable.

Ok thank you...also would you know if I can run without the starter soleniod if I was to just kick it?

Yes, if you just kick it, you don't need any of the starter related parts, don't even need the starter.

Oh ok thank 5twins.....thats what I was thinking but im just starting out learning. So without the soleniod hooked up what do I do with the left over exposed wiring?

cap the wiers so they don't spark on your frame.
