Quick rotor help

Hello all.

So I tried the feeler gauge test and it showed no response, unless the engine is running...then it will pull the feeler right to it.

I pulled it apart and found the rotor unclean. Almost a maroonish color crud on it that flakes off easily.

My question:

Is the rotor cleanable? Will sanding help return to new? Or will that hurt the rotor?

I have pictures I could email if necessary, I'm posting from my mobile, or I'd post them!!

I wouldn't sand it take an eraser to the contacts and just clean the rest with a brass brush

Put an ohm meter on the two rings should be around 5.1 ohms report what yours is.

Thanks for all the replies. The crud came off easily with 3m pads and a brass brush. System is charging flawlessly. Reading 5.1.
