Some Luck at the car boot sale
Something for the beginner to consider .. The Recycling is more popular so prices is up
One asked $ 25 for an old ratchet .. . Maye it was good once ..but old
But starting out this hobby there is still tools for the beginner to find.
Especially for the ones not needed so often
can have some scratches and rust even But well usable
The ratchet is a FACOM that was stuck .. $ 2 -- After Cleaning and Greasing works fine
The brown blackish ones is for sheet metal work

I have a complete tool set, everything I need, no matter the job. I bought them all when I started working on stuff. The last pic is of my shifters, they will shift any size, any shape nut or bolt, very handy.

If you search YouTube, you can find videos showing you how to restore those. Of course, some other tools may be required.
Most of my vicegrips came attached to the underside of beater cars I bought, holding various rusted off items to the car. Some were found laying in the road where they gave up holding duty.
Best pliers ever, found on the road, a pair of knipex adjustable jaw.

I like that ,,The Fred Flintstone transmission is underrated
I can see this being useful .Not making series of 3000 parts or so .but for single items
I have tinkered with sewing machines
Has some industrial sewing machines
and an Old long arm cobbler machine
Pedal driven
sewing with a machine is not something I can handle -- Much more difficult than I thought. Must admit.
Industrial Sewing machines are too fast if you don't know how And are not experienced.
The pedal driven then you have better time to Aim get the stitches near where you intend and start stop
Little bit better results even if not good.
This can be the same ..
