motor doesn't run. Should i try to get it running first or rebuild the engine first then get it running. I'm not sure why it's not running . The bike has been sitting for many years. Carbs are not on it and I am struggling with what i should do first and where to begin..

Any suggestions?? :(

Perhaps the lack of carbs could be a contributory factor? Sorry, couldn't resist that......

Get it running first - it may be something simple and if the motor runs strongly why re-build it?

The first law of diagnosis is not to guess what the issue is.
The second law is to base your diagnosis on factual evidence.

The motor needs three things to work:
  • A spark at the right time
  • An air - fuel mix at the correct ratio
  • Sufficient compression in the cylinder to encourage the mixture to burn.

Work your way through the three conditions above - one of them will require attention

No I have not tried yet. Due to there is not much electrical stuff left. The po tore it all out. Is there anyway to test for spark without a coil and ignition?
