    post carb cleaning, trouble

hi folks, I just re-cleaned my '80's BS 34 carbs again after they'd gotten gummed up months ago. Replaced the float needles and the part they sit in, rubber caps over (under?) pilot jets and also float bowl gaskets. Put them back on today, and the bike doesn't want to start easily. Finally...

    desperate help! 83 heritage hardtail.

Hey guys! Sorta new around here. I bought a heritage special 83 about a month ago and hardtailed it. This is my fifth build of the season, but I have to admit my first xs650/yamaha. I'm just lost with this. Carb. I put pods on it. Rejetted to 145 main and a 45 pilot. Adjusted idle set and...

    Rejetting opinion...

In your own opinions, is it dumb or a waste of money to buy a "jet kit"? They supposedly sell the jets I need based on my modifications and my elevation. Is it easier or cheaper to do it another way? I've never done it before so I could end up buying way more stuff than I need... Posted via Mobile

    Fuel flow?

Ok so I pulled the drain screw out on both carbs and on a previous thread someone told me that with the petcock on fuel should flow but nothing is coming out of the drain thought maybe it was the gas cap being air tight but no and I ran all new fuel lines with inline fuel filter anybody have any...

    Carbs

Hi all, I have a 1973 XS2. Can I replace the carbs with a set of linked items from a later model. The XS2 carbs are not linked and I would like to fit a set of linked carbs from a later model so that I can tune the XS easier. At the moment the two carbs work independently and idle...

Current Issues: Gas Mileage, Stalls and engine ticking

Alright, since I am new to this bike and engines in general, I apologize for my ignorance. What kind of gas mileage should I be getting on my 77 xs650? Last check was 33+. It is basically a stock bike, no upgrades. When I first start my engine, it ticks (lightly for a bit). Is that a...

Ok, I am new to this bike/engine and really don't have much knowledge about engines in general. I've been doing some reading and trying to figure out some issues I've been having, but so far, no luck. Here is the big one right now: After running the bike tonight, it still gave me some issues...

Anyone done the Kwak GPZ Carb conversion

Has anyone done the GPZ500 carb conversion, I have mounted them successfully as they slip straight onto the XS rubbers no problems and done a small modification to accept the XS throttle cable However I can only get the engine to start on Eazystart and it wont idle so this points towards...

    Positive Crankcase Vent Question

I've searched this subject, and seen a variety of ideas. Has anyone tried running a hose from the PCV exit holes to the barb on the intake on the carb holders? I hooked it up, and didn't see any issues, although it did raise the idle slightly, cured by turning idle screw. Any ideas whether this...
