I was bein' a smart ass Kevin. Those are your (standard) side covers and JP's (XS-2) tank. The single color and light reveal contours that are not present in a stock painted bike. Those crease/contours are invisiible in standard paint.

Ha ha, yes I saw wrong indent and mounts for the emblem later. But you got me good for a while there.I was bein' a smart ass Kevin. Those are your (standard) side covers and JP's (XS-2) tank.
That's art, you philistine! Is the sheet on the wall to check color and/or adjust spray pattern?
Lot's of variables JP.... dark on light, largest color, area-wise... personal preference and experience....Glad to see some of your stuff (Victor, Speedtwin, et al) getting some attention...
I'm a bit curious how a real painter strategizes a multi-color job like the Euro thingie. I often do stuff backward and I'd be tempted to go red, black, yellow and then orange - given the teenie stripes involved
Yes.Is the sheet on the wall to check color and/or adjust spray pattern?
Yeah.... that too. That's art, you philistine!
You aren't planning to cut an ear off are you....?That's art, you philistine!
Yes.
Now that is some shit right there... You may as well cut off an ear...
Very cool. I like it. That is what I should have responded right away. Sorry. Vertical twins of note span decades and I hope to capture a "representative" look of '60s. No, the disc brake doesn't fit. I willl live with that.Wanted to just try one easy piece first and see if you like it Kevin. If you do, I'll press on striping the rest?
I think it has an old school AJS... Matchless vibe to it. Very retro.
A PO did that, then glued an embem on, probably the right one. Left one was red with 2 holes.Quiz time... which cover had the two holes welded shut?

Kevin used chrome acorn nuts for his lower mounting setup. I left 'em unpainted. I think they'll look very snazzy on the bike.

My memory is bad, had to go to "winter project" thread to refresh my memory. The Red(left) one was hole less but had 8 layers of paint..Post in thread 'It's time to start a winter Project. The Red Bike' https://www.xs650.com/threads/its-time-to-start-a-winter-project-the-red-bike.62447/post-780657.It was the right one.
