I've noticed a few members with 'guru' next to their name. Who awards that title, the forum? Or is it something they heap upon themselves? That would seem awfully egotistical!

I'm guessing it's post count done by the forum software. I see you're presently a first class butcher. I don't know how many posts you need for the status to change. That's configurable by the site admin.

Well, I note that our friend Bob, @Mailman, very modestly says Hardly a Guru! although it's very worthwhile looking at his threads, eg rebuilding the XS2 - a lot to learn there.

Without naming names, and without wanting to appear sycophantic there are people on this forum with in-depth technical knowledge of the XS650 who freely give their time to help the rest of us and I would never argue with them being called gurus.

A default label, it changes based on # of posts in the garage forum. Each member can change that to whatever they wish, in their personal settings.

That's what I thought. That's pretty sad then, these people obviously think a lot of themselves.

I call myself 'a first class butcher'. But I think I manage ok!

At some point during my 2 indepth projects, The Tracker or the Red Bike, I noticed that my sticker said "Guru" and I was thoroughly embarrassed and searched how I could change it.😎
