They have a very nice sound and look. IMHO only thing that sounds and looks better is factory mufflers or the OEM aftermarkets. Is this what I need? Are these the tinny sounding or good sounding muffs?

There was discussion about some comandos sounding tinny. I am about to order for the "Red" (Time to Start a winter project) bike and would like to get the right ones. They have a very nice sound and look. IMHO only thing that sounds and looks better is factory mufflers or the OEM aftermarkets.

Ordered today for the "Red Bike".Yes that's a great price and when they are gone they are gone. I'm tempted to get an "extra pair" just in case....
beautiful build!I have "Omars" on my current bike. They were pretty loud. I did a number of trials to tone them down. Loud pipes are a certain kind of music but A. they challange neighbor relations and B. they can be tiring on the highway.
View attachment 235452The baffle is a perforated tube in the megaphone. The baffle was wrapped partialy in fiberglass but the packing was dense enough that it didn't really absorb or deaden sound. I wrapped the baffles in the coarse brillo pads which allows gas and noise to penetrate the weave and expand into the megaphone. This expanded gas and noise must pass again through the mesh of the brillo to exit. The brillo is contained by stainless seizing wire. This modification tamed the exhaust considerably. I also added threem #8 screws through the baffle body tube at 4, 8, and 12 o'clock to slow flow and force some flow through the mesh. My results are very pleasing to ME and seemingly others and only gats real loud at full chat (WFO 4500+ rpm).
Thank you, I did buy it much as it sits but added fender, polished cases, changed bars, mirrors and shocks, brake MC and line etc. etc. and a ton of development/jetting and electrical.beautiful build!
As you like the not very functional "shorty look" , you should consider yourself lucky to not own a MZ250. That muffler is VERY long, and designed with purely function in mind.that's a lot of disrespect towards my old girl lol. But thank you to everyone for the advice! ill prob just get new mufflers but I personally do like the shorty look. Every single xs1 looks exactly the same, kinda boring imho.
Welp, that’s what the aftermarket is for lol, the exhaust is HUGE is comparison to the bike hahaAs you like the not very functional "shorty look" , you should consider yourself lucky to not own a MZ250. That muffler is VERY long, and designed with purely function in mind.
Yes, I believe most agree that it is unusually long. But it is long because it is a relatively low-revving 2 stroke, and that dictates a long pipe for best scavenging, with acceptable noise levels. A shorter pipe would not allow the engine to operate as efficiently in the midrange. The last version of the Yamaha TZ350 roadracer, had exhausts that crossed over each other in front of the engine. Otherwise they would protrude past the rear wheel, something the FIM rule book wouldn't allow. But they just had to be that long for the desired powerband. The laws of physics don't give a hoot about "cool" or personal preferencesWelp, that’s what the aftermarket is for lol, the exhaust is HUGE is comparison to the bike haha
How do you order a right and a left sideI believe these are the ones I bought.

they are not handed, the mounting slot is centered on the back side of the muffler. How do you order a right and a left side
I can ad 1 or 2 or ..
But it doesn't specify right or left
Is that what that’s called? I think it’s incurable and invades other facets of your life as well…Ha! You've become afflicted too!; I call it "gggGary/Mailman Syndrome": compulsive polishing of that bit, then the next bit....
