Hi Andy and welcome,
whereja find a 1984-85 XS650?
Mine's a Canadian model '84 Heritage Special and I thought, about the last of them.
MikesXS sells clip-ons:- https://www.mikesxs.net/search.html?q=clip-on+bars
Take a caliper to your fork tubes before placing the order.
All '77 and newer XS650s came with 35mm fork tubes.
Mind you, XS650 parts swap like LEGO and if one of it's POs rebuilt it from a wreck he may well have used 34mm forks because that's what he could find at the time.
Hi Andy,
OK '76 and older had 34mm forks.
What I'd do is use this list's "search" button and look for "getting a bike title" to see all the sad stories about folks pouring untold money and effort into a bike project and then finding that the DMV Nazis refused to register it.
So if you intend getting a good project that you can legally ride on the street get at least one of them titled FIRST.
