I have 4 of these pre '77 calipers apart. Two of them have 2 holes in the chamber, 2 have only 1. Any advantage to use either type?
The front and back of the castings are slightly different, too.

2 different castings, I have 5 loose and the one on my TXA, they are all the same as the satin black one. it is a smooth casting and different shape around the inlet and reverse side. All of mine have that small emblem cast into the caliper as well.

Quick answer is that the high centre port is drilled directly to bleed screw and the other comes from the brake line.
I will rebuild the pair that has a separate bleeder vent.
Never thought to probe the holes before asking the question.

In any case, I believe the early calipers were far superior to the later (77 onwards) calipers. Must have been bean counters or maybe "designers" overruling the proper engineers. If my 77 had the earlier calipers, I wouldn't have bothered with a Brembo conversion.
