Hey y’all.

I had a gas leak and jump started my bike the other day, these wires connected to this ground plate lit up on fire. They seems fried but I need help identifying them. I think I can just replace the ground wires and snip the other ones and get new connectors.

Can anyone weigh in on some tips to get this thing back up and running.

Here are some photos of the fried wires

The last pic is the rectifier, the 6-pin connector could also be the rectifier if the wires were 3 white, 1 black & 1 red. Note that the stator is also a 6-pin connector, but contains a green wire, 3 white & 1 black

replacement connectors here: https://www.vintageconnections.com/products/yamaha-control-connector
Thank you, since it’s warm now I’m finally getting around to tackling this. If I were to replace the black wire that goes to the rectifier what gauge would I need to make sure it’s all good. I believe that one is the only one that isn’t usable still.

Thanks for your help

I should also add... I advise against splicing in New wire on cables carrying a lot of current. These splices will be prone to future failure if not done right. If possible, replace the entire length of the wire that was stressed. You may want to evaluate your options, such as getting an whole new harness before ordering up splicing kits and new connectors.
