Front end pogo??

So I took my xs out for its maiden voyage since hardtailing it. Seems to have a significant pogo effect in the front end when simply driving straight at speed.

I am using the original stock front end. It was a 79 xs650. Any advice appreciated.

How much "pogo"?

could be the tyre bead not seated correctly in the rim causing to go egg shape, this happened to me.

Ok, I will check the fork oil and tire and let you know how I make out.

Old dried up, out of balance tire. Or a new, out of balance tire.

Or forks that sat and rusted just above the fork seals so that the first time they compress it tears the seals up and oil gets out...

without oil the forks act badly.
