Is it a bad idea to hot tank my valve cover WITHOUT removing the rockers? Im having a hell of a time trying to pull the rocker arm shafts out of the valve cover without a 6mm slide hammer.

Im thinking that it wouldnt be terrible to do so. Just crank the motor over a few times by hand once its all put back together to get oil into the top end and the rocker/shaft passages.

apparently its a real mild solution because i just got my jugs back from hot tanking and they look the same as they were before. im now looking for sodablasting quotes. i may actually just end up buying some mediablasting equipment and doing it myself. seems thats the only way to get shit done the right way these days

Screw a bolt in the ends and grab it with vice grips. You can warm the aluminum with a plumbers torch a little and they'll come out. Maybe tap on the vice grips.
