HOw to wire an electronic Tach?

I purchased a repalcement instrument cluster for my XS400 the donor was a Yamaha Virago. The tach is electroniclly driven, now how do tap in to the wireing harnes to get the input signal to drive the tach??

I know one of you have done this before.

Don't you simply connect it to the non-straight to 12v side of a coil, or a wire that runs to that?

Check on a Virago wiring diagram. It will show you how it was hooked there. Then you might be able to figure out how it might hook to an XS400.

Looks like ground, light, and a wire that goes to the tci side of coil (orange wire to coil).
