Pricing in USD, current as of 01-01-2024
8 Alto frictions shipped to USA address $100
add for one new Yamaha steel $15
Shipping overseas; at actual cost -
Shipping is in a padded priority envelope so you can check a price to your country I will make customs forms at the correct selling price.
I bought and sold out of 25 sets in 2020 and ordered 40 more sets as of 2-2021
This is known to work in 74-79 clutches later clutch baskets need to be machined to remove the half plate and spring and accept 8 plates. I have not tried a set in an early basket yet.
This resurrects the old ippytattoo 8 plate conversion. I talked to ippy about this before and he said go for it, he wouldn't jump through the hoops again. I put a set in Madness and could not be happier. You need the 8 new (thinner) friction plates and one extra stock steel plate assuming your existing steels are good. I can prolly do about 15 sets from plates I have here, you can also order them new from Yamaha and maybe I can round some more up from flea bay or member stashes.
$100 to your door for 8 friction plates. please put your 2 cents in the poll and feel free to reply, good, bad, or MEH.
I think ippy installed or sold about 12 sets, he did sell out of what he.
I have not done it but Ippytattoo turned some later (80 up?) hubs to remove the "half plate shelf" and steel spring to make the 8 plate conversion. That might be something I could offer also.
Here's ippy's previous thread. http://www.xs650.com/threads/alto-8-pack-clutch-kits.33399/#post-338934
These plates are not a big seller for Alto, they only had 7 plates total in the US, and no plans for a production run. They also fit some other Yamaha's and Suzuki GS1000's
