I'm in the process of cleaning up my 78' Special in preparation to bring it back to life, I have discovered quite a bit of plastic in the oil filter presumably from the front cam chain guide. I have not dropped the sump filter yet to see what is in there. Most everything looks to be in pretty decent condition and seems to have pretty good compression, although i have not checked with a tester yet. I am assuming that I will be in need of a fresh top end rebuild and am looking for a reputable shop/person to perform some work. Can anyone advise in this area? I am located in northern IN and would consider within 2-3 hr drive range if needed. I'm just looking to refresh what is there, no big bore or rephase. Also curious what kind of rough ballpark to be expecting for charges. I know that charges can be quite varying depending on what is found once it is opened up but hoping to get a rough idea so i can plan ahead.
