The loss of the amp was not so frustrating when it happened as I found the love of my life Mrs C at that time. My focus was elsewhere. Now very happily married to Mrs C, but boy do I miss that amp.

My listening for pleasure is done through the following:
Michell Gyrodeck turntable modified.
SME V arm, rewired.
Lyra Kleos moving coil cartridge.
Musical Fidelity Nu Vista 3D Cd player
Musical Fidelity Nu Vista M3 Amplifier
Bowers & Wilkins 802 Nautilus speakers.
Bowers & Wilkins 825 subs
Matched custom made cables & interconnects (using studio pro quality cables)
Townshend Hi Fi tables.

Amp & CD players restored & upgraded by John Simpson (JS AUDIO) who was the chief engineer at Musical Fidelity. Amp now pushes 600 watts per channel into 4 Ohms! Subs add 1kw per side.
Most of the above is from the 1980’s and have a superb organic sound. Not the sterile sound of modern hi end streamed hi-fi.

Another thing that I get obsessed with and am still not very good at, but I have about nine of them and four amps. They look cool hanging on my wall though. One is pretty rare and is associated with the front man of my favorite band. The rest are wasted, useless, selfless, none of a kind.

I am skeptical they are useless I can see some brand names Epiphone
And often even worn guitars can be refurbished
Rusty Pyles here on the forum has the knowledge

That last sentence was a clue as to which guitar is the rare one. Sorry I do that sometimes. None of them are useless. That Epiphone kicked ass, I sold it because I practiced mostly in my recliner and the hollow body didn't fit so I never played it.

I’m not sure this belongs here but, there is a Mongolian metal band called Hu and they have these unique stringed instruments; long piccolo type neck, 2 huge E strings, they are played with a bow and sound amazing

I remember years ago, one of my stepsons was learning guitar and I like to build things. I found kits for Martin guitars that you could build yourself. He lost interest and I never got one but it was interesting that they were out there.

I've just dug out a guitar I started building around four years ago. I had to put it on hold when I started rebuilding my XS.
There's only room for one project in my garage and sawdust isn't very good for motorbikes in pieces.
It's a sort of 1930s parlour guitar.
Unfortunately I don't make any money when I sell them. I make maybe £1 an hour.

Just had a few and read this. Where the hell is Adilaide, so I can beat the crap outta ya? Like your cat, also. Mine was an American Bobtail. Probably the only cat that understood me. Died at 5 of lukemia. Now I have 2 all black regular twin cats. Dolores and Cornelia! They're cool too and they have each other when I'm not home!

I have a half finished cigar box ukulele kit that I bought for my 10 y/o niece that I recently found while looking for a fender (motorcycle not guitar) . My sister wanted me to get activities to do together as Christmas presents that year. My 7 y/o nephew was pissed. That was seven years ago.

You should get it finished. It's surprisingly satisfying playing something you've built. A bit like rebuilding a motorbike, but warmer.
Not sure a 14 y/o youff would be over impressed. I'll bet he will be in another 7 years.

Trying to glue it back
Fairly good brand but an old one cheap instrument .. But giving it a try mostly for the hobby

Bought a $ 4 Mandolin just because it was cheap .. in a thrift store 8 strings paired 2 and 2
Awkward 2 strings close -- Not used to it and thin neck need to figure out on line how to tune it.
Feels unlikely I get the hang of it at the moment

I have some of those also . So it would have worked And would perhaps made more sense if a better instrument
Having said that the rope actually worked well .very well .... even though it looks weird .. the anchor at the ground was movable in the plane so a bit sideways load also possible and via twisting the rope via the screwdriver the load was fully under control.
Possible insert a steel scale at the test without glue so the height action could be inspected. And then loosening apply glue re tightening
The clamps also can be problematic to attach if round curved surfaces .Perhaps not a problem in this case.
But you are right a better job would have needed more attention. and clamps wooden blocks and so.

Mandolin and an electric I took a chance on today possibly a mistake
The Mandolin has very poor sound and high stiff action making it hard to play
The strings are old from before the war and I Popped 2 trying to tune it.
I maybe will make another bridge and saddle from some hard wood and aluminum
Getting lower action.
Need to order strings from somewhere.

The electric looks old the yellow on the pickups points to maybe 60 ies
There is no marking a serial number HG308 but no tell who have made it
and it is heavy I believed it could be a solid body -- Not so Laminated Bummer
The bridge is a telecaster style and would not be common on a Fender style guitar And there are holes
indicating it has been replaced
The tuners is also replaced .And some are missing a bushing ,Making the play to large
Got a copper pipe I can make new ones off And with glue it will fit
There is supposed to be an electric fault inside :but I can se Open soldered joints so it can be there
The potentiometers appears to be to large not fitting .Need to check that perhaps cut out a bit in the wood
The neck seems straight and the frets look OK
I believe it to be Japanese and they have good reputation It comes down to the pickups.
But a medium low end instrument a 4- 5 on a ten scale I guess
Possibly a mistake buying it.

I thought about getting a set of bagpipes. So when some assclown blasts his shitty music going down the street in my neighborhood (which is pretty quiet), I can follow him home and then just stand outside on the sidewalk and blast my shitty bagpipe playing.

I wouldn't even need to practice to be all that good either. Actually, the worse I would be the better.

The electric guitar had a weird wiring and some wires was flipped one coil hot and ground was flipped
After trying to figure it out Not great success.
Turned out the Volume Potentiometer was short circuit in some positions
Leaving zero resistance on the input :And then I cannot connect an amplifier
Without risking it says poff $ 300 damage ..
So the potentiometer and one switch was gone .

Needed New wiring and new parts .. NO

I by a chance bough a box with miscellaneous guitar parts and in there was a set with 3 single coil pickups
Stratocaster pickup selector
and 2 potentiometers
All wired up.
I have installed

Need to figure if it needs a third potentiometer and start measure input resistance for that set
Cut a hole for the pickup selector.

The pickups taken out appeared to be OK having resistance but the magnets feels weak.
The replacement set feels stronger.
Still open if this will end up in the Dumpster . Gave $ 20 for it.

In the box was also Stratocaster bridge saddles I can install perhaps ... some looked fine.
But need to hear it first ..

I've actually used those on the only British guitar that own.
