Neutral switch - still/again

I cleaned the clean looking switch electrical contact cleaner. Flipped the ball in an out a few times to make sure it was free. I was not impressed with the spring, BTW.

Hooked it up and still get the same result. Light comes on just for an instant but does not reliably indicate Neutral. :banghead:

I read on another board some allusion to putting a couple washers under the switch. I also can't find a source for a new switch. Any one know the washer trick or where I can buy another switch? I don't want to keep taking it on and off since the PO buggered up the little screw and I haven't yet tracked down a new screw (or cap screw).

It could be the neutral detent on the other side. That's what actually positions the gear in neutral. If the spring is weak or missing in the detent, that would cause your problem..
