Just got a set of throttle cables from Mikes....they have springs on the carb end...I suppose the springs fit between the cable stay and the pull on the butterfly shaft? I have not seen this setup before.
No, the spring goes above the cable bracket on the carb top and is there for cable sheath protection, not butterfly return assist .....
Note the "kink" or bend in the exposed section of cable. I run across this often because folks don't know the proper way to install/remove a throttle cable. You must install or remove the ball end of the cable from the lever with the sheath out of the holder on the carb top and pulled down and over to the side. A good throttle cable exposed end will look like so, arrow straight with no kinks or bends .....
