Ole Jim needs a couple bowls for his weekend recreation so I'm shipping.
Hard to beat the USPS for sending small stuff.
BUT: Post office site doesn't let you print first class parcel labels. :banghead: Only way was wander into the local PO.
Until recently you could just pop on Paypal and print first class labels, toss your package in the mailbox and Bob's yer mailman. Now you can only make a label after you've received a paypal payment from the purchaser. So I went looking and found Orange mailer a stand alone shipping site that will let you print out first class and parcel post labels at the same price or slightly less than if you go to the Post Office.
You need to prepay them at least enough to cover the cost of the label before you know the exact cost so you end up with a few bux held in your account there. :shrug:But they take paypal, so whenever funds are low it's easy to chuck 'em a couple more bux.
Anyway it seems to work just fine, I've printed labels and sent 4 or 5 packages out using them now.
They offer 4 levels of service with discounts increasing as you pay a larger monthly subscription fee but for now, and us little now and then guys, the basic service is free with the same rates you'd pay at the post office window.

Not true.
Here is the PayPal shipping label link:
http://paypal.com/shipnow
or
https://www.paypal.com/signin?returnUri=/shiplabel/create/
First Class Parcel, as well as all of the other services, to any one, anywhere in the world, any time, for any reason, no qualifiers to jump through.
Of course, you have to have a PayPal account on your computer.

Thanx DB!
Turns out It's an issue with firefox not showing that create new label icon on the paypal shipping page. Logged in with Chrome and it's there.:doh:

Gary, try www.pirateship.com They have the absolute best USPS rates for free. I've been using them for a few years now. If you need to ship small items between 1 and 20lbs, cubic pricing is hard to beat. I've use pirateship.com almost daily for the past few years.

I'm just curious on how they price their service as in how they know the price when you print the label
Cubic ft or weight or the combination of the 2
Generally I just box it up and take it to UPS or the USPS and pay what they ask not not knowing a cheaper way to do it

I've been using ORANGE for first class but yes all the site's forms ask weight n size. Checked price to ship a gas tank to GB; USPS was $243 UPS FedEx, around $850 to 1000! Quite a savings printing at home compared to a shipping store.
Plus my mailman comes to the door picks up boxes if I leave a note in the mailbox to do so.

Wow what a difference in cost
I don't ship much but if you can do it from home and the price is reasonable
I'll have to give it a try
Thanks guys !!
