Quick question about BS 38 carb diaphragms

I have an early set of BS 38's. Ordered a new set of diaphragms from JBM Industries. It shows on their site to cut the plastic retaining ring off. I have a plastic retaining ring on top and bottom of the diaphragm. Do I cut both off? I'm assuming yes. Just wanna be sure.

O.K. So they both have to come off. Little bastards to cut with side cutters. Arsed with them for 45 minutes. I was scared i was going to slip and hurt the slide so i heated the tip of a pocket knife with a propane torch (hot knife) and slid through it like butter. Not sure bout the lip of the slide. It seems pretty sharp. On the JBM site it doesn't say anything about that, just the mechanical lock groove on the top of the carb. Run some fine sandpaper around it to take any burrs off it. Anyone else do the install.

I'm sure other's have, they have been talked about. Have you tried searching for JBM diaphragm install ?
