reg/rect. etc. electrics

For a late model reg/rec you can assemble one per this thread https://www.xs650.com/threads/diy-reg-rec-5twins-and-jim.55842/
or, if you prefer an "off-the shelf" solution: https://ricksmotorsportelectrics.com/

The rotors, just about everyone here has them rewound here https://www.xs650.com/threads/rewound-alternator-rotor.54276/
if you insist on buying one, same as reg/rec.

stator?? I've not replaced one

I don't recommend those parts supplied anywhere else (Mike's)

Have you verified you need each one of those?

Hi jpdevol,
Thanks for the direction to seek from! I am still in the process of checking the specs on my components. I am old and slow, really hope I do not need to replace too many things to get back to charging on my XS?
Thanks again,

You are in the right place for XS650 info and support. The tech section in the black bar at the top of the page has a plethora of info for troubleshooting a non charging situation. Could be as simple as a bad battery.

Hello xshead,
Thanks for the heads up on the tech tips!
I am enjoying all the information, and now have lots more to be checking into on my new to me XS.

Just a minor correction, that thread covers early and late regulators and reg/rec. From '70 up to the last year produced. If you don't mind the extra work involved, you can save quiet a bit of money AND have a more reliable system to boot.

Something else to consider... if the *name brands* sold a quality product, 5twins and I probably wouldn't have written that thread. I hesitate to call other peoples stuff junk.... so I'll just quit right here... :sneaky:

Hi Jim,
I have been a follower of yours every since I joined the forum, upon buying my 82 XS back in August of last year. Gotta tell ya if I do find that I will need a new rotor as I try to figure out my no charge problem, I will for sure only buy one from you. Thanks once again for sharing so much of your knowledge with all of us on the forum.
