Valve cover casting marks "1" & "2"

There is a tiny "1" stamped on the inside of 2 of my valve covers. There is a tiny "2" on the other 2. I assume they would be for cylinder 1 and 2, but that's not how they came off. Is there any difference? Any reason they should go back on a particular way?

Chrome? Oooooh. You mean garage floor glitter. Also known as sparkly stuff I can't get off my fingers...unless I put them in my eye.
