I love old shop scenes, they remind me of my childhood with my dad. I can literally smell that shop from here.

Yesterday, the TV weatherman told us the Northern Lights wuz expected to put on a show visible as far south as the Borders, if there were clear skies. But he also said no clear skies expected.
But, intrigued by the photo, looked up Federal Bering and Vessel Finder https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels/details/9697832 tells she is en route from Port Weller to Thunder Bay. Bit more looking stuff up and discovered the Welland Canal. OK, didn't actually discover the canal, it has a history of 200 years, but new to me. An amazing inland waterway with eight huge locks capable of conveying large vessels from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie

Before that was opened, everything leaving the Great Lakes had to be unloaded by the time it got to Buffalo. I believe Buffalo got bypassed about 1932. I’m not exactly sure the impact on the economy.
