Gotcha. Which stubs? lol The square tubing was just sitting there removed it today.
Thanks. With your new setup, will I still need to purchase all the other parts from Mikes? I'm talking about the points adv. rod, breaker plate screws, etc. I know I need a new coil, but I'm hoping I won't need to mess with the other things. I'll be watching the weather in S. Carolina.... CB
Right now, you will need a standard PAMCO, advance rod and three bushings as well as the new advancer. In a week or so, I will be releasing a new PAMCO that is made to work with the new advancer without the duplication of parts to reduce the overall cost of a complete system. I don't have all the particulars right now, but here is a pic of the new PAMCO designed to work with the new advancer:
Notice the lack of parts compared to the standard PAMCO. That will reduce the overall cost for a complete system for new installations
So I'd like to order but I am a little confused.
I have a bone stock 81. What exactly do I need in order to convert my tci unit to your system?
I got my new simplified Pamco + advance installed and running a couple of days ago. I'm digging it. The bike has never run this well, and that is with a very tired original coil. I have a VF1000 3.0 ohm coil coming. I can only expect it will get better. It would be nice to eventually see the advance electronics setup small enough to be incorporated onto the pamco plate or under the cover somehow. Well done, Pete.
Here is a spreadsheet to help choose the right PAMCO kit for you:
Notes: 1. 17-6903 coil is the "Ultimate" coil
2. 14-0648 to replace the mechanical advancer in an existing PAMCO setup.
I have very little of that.
I do have a complete set of tools to rebuild vehicle differentials and a myriad of pullers.
I can lap valves/seats, remove valve spring locks, resurface cylinders on some stuff.
No mills, lathes, bridge-ports or anything like that, but I am working on it.
Oven for powdercoating is a definite maybe. Trying to find a bigger place as I have run out of space.
I need to read up on the splitting and truing of cranks; I suppose you mean for recocking for the rephasing.....
As far as my address goes, my shop garage and the associated tools are open to any sane member. lol
I don't loan tools though.
So much for that tire being new.....2004...lol...they just never wiped off the blue....
