    Another XS Chop build

I'll put my build thread here, picked up an 83 special for cheap. I thought the motor was in a little better shape but I was going to change out the ignition and alternator any way. Need carbs and a few other little things. I'm going to move away from the all black look. It does look awesome and...

First xs build, looking for some advice

So I picked up a couple of XS's on the cheap. One was a full stock xs and the other a sad attempt at a bobber. I have a tc bros hardtail and a sportster tank already. i have both aluminum wheels and spoked wheels but i want to do a springer front end with a big chrome wheel and a rear disc brake...

    Poor decisions, another xs build

Part 1 So to property kick off this build I need to tell the story first. So I'd been looking for an XS to chop for a while but was never too serious since I didn't have a good garage for it and I already had a bike I was throwing money at (07 Bonneville). All that changed when I recently bought...

    New member from northern VT

Hey guys, I've been lurking for a long time just trying to learn as I'm about to start my xs chopper build. I'm a regular over at Chop Cult and go by Ato, but I figure I should actually introduce myself and start posting here and maybe start a build thread soon. Here's the project, xs650...

New guy - The Daily Chopper Build

Hey guys, I've lurked here for a few years, but have never posted anything before. I guess this will be my intro and a build thread... My name is Mike and I'm from Mississippi. I'm an engineer/project manager by day and I build bikes in my spare time. If you frequent the Chopcult or...

    Chain tensioner and axle plates?

Do I necessarily "need" both? I'm running a tc hardtail and monstercrafstman chain tensioner and I absolutely hate the look stock axle adjusters. I was under the impression that the axle adjusters were used mainly to account for slack in the chain.

    Throttle question (Amal style single)

So I bought this throttle a while back and just got my TC bros 5"+ throttle/clutch cables yesterday. When I install the throttle cable the way I think it's supposed to be installed, the throttle is already twisted a bit. The throttle lever on the carb is already pulled up a bit when the throttle...

Wiring my bike (I'll need help)

I'm becoming impatient seeing my bike 99.999999% finished in my garage and now that I have all the means to finish and wire it, I want to do just that. I had originally planned on waiting until a buddy of mine was available and hauling it all down to his shop (in my vw :() and having him help me...

Trying to figure out my exhaust...

this is the only picture i have of my pipes (one of them still lying on the lift) they run right on top of each other right underneath my foot peg, but what I'm trying to do is something like this (minus the fish tails and my pipes will be right on top of each other) if i remember...

    Jumpstreet Customs

Yo fellas, If you dig the parts you are seeing on my build you need to hit Jay up over at Jumpstreet Customs. His customer service is unreal and man that dork can freakin' weld! His prices are incredible and his products are dope. Keep your business stateside and support the homeboys doing...

    Sissy-bar Tail lights

I'm trying to find my best/simplest/INEXPENSIVE option for a tail light that mounts to my sissy bar, since there's already a license plate bracket on it. recommendations? Here's my rear-end :wink2:

    Mini drum front brake???

I may want to throw a front brake on down the road, and I really prefer the look of a drum brake over disc, so what would be the simplest/most cost efficient way to add a front brake? Currently, I have a stock xs front end, stock hub (late 70's) i believe that is meant to have a disc, but I'm...

    Yello Mello Chopper

So I got excited a few months ago when i heard about another xs buildoff. I shy'd away from the one last year because timing was tight and I am halfway across the country from where it takes place. I keep seeing buildoff threads and I got excited and joined as a builder and sponsor. This...

    2014 Buildoff Thread "Smokin' Armadillo"

My brother and I recently decided to take the plunge and build our own bikes. With the wide availability of parts, and (relatively) low initial expense, xs650s seemed to be a great place to start. We recently returned from a road trip in which we bought 3 xs650s (they're kind of hard to find in...

    Project BOARDCHOP - Build Thread

Introducing project BOARDCHOP! The inspiration behind this next build has heavy boardtracker and chopper influences, thus "Board Chop". I must have 30+ drawing mock-ups but the following drawing below is the closest to the look I'm going for in this next build. Runner up designs

Chrome plating shops and DIY, picks AND fails

I'm looking for shops, last plating I had done was in the 70's LOL (I checked, that shop is gone) I think regs for handling chrome waste have really thinned the field. Nasty stuff. Thought a picks and fails thread would make a good resource here. Reply with Shop, location, experience? Fire...
