'80 Special and '84 Honda. I'd bet $1200 cash would talk.

My son found this, he is looking for an XS now. He said something about talking to the seller. I told him send him the money NOW. Listed as a 77 with 3400 miles.
I am kind of giddy on this. Seller is showing son bike tomorrow. 3400 mile 78 is kind of exciting to me. If mufflers are not rusted through and tins/tank are not bang up this could be a gem.I will have to bargain with son in case he wants to keep it. Who repaints tanks again?

Almost to good to be true - curious to hear the end of this :)

Me too. :) Thanks. 78 was a well developed model. Despite my adolescent indifference at the time. The paint/color was a subtle nod to Norton Comando with gold pinstripe on black. I will find out tomorrow whether it is mine or my son decides to keep it. He is hot for an XS650 so he can ride Smokies in fall. Imagine the ignomy, son waiting for me at the next stop sign.

Son went to see this bike today and walked away. It ran poorly, he felt the handling was wonky and maybe some put stretched forks on because the side stand was ineffective. Something fell on the left side of the bike and damaged tank and side cover. Son said the exhaust/mufflers were not scratched, dented, rusted. What made son walk is that seller's wife's deceased uncle was the owner and Minnesota has tough title laws evidently. The bike had several lookers last fall and all ran because of title issues. I am waiting for pics from son and from seller. My neighbor @mm1ut1 recently got a bill of sale bonded title in Wisconsin so a '78 project with ultra low miles might be worthwhile.

When it’s to good to be true - it’s mostly not true. I went through all kind of hoops here in FL for a bike with know history but no title - bull of sale etc etc - ended up getting a registration in my name from VT - not sure I’ll go through that again :)
