What have you done to your XS today?

Today , I finished polishing my rear wheel stainless spokes and sprayed the brushed alloy rim and hub with laquer. I'll have a close look tomorrow to see if I should start rebuilding the wheel or give the bits another coat.

Looks fine please tell more
Preparation / What color / What spray gun / How many layers / Clear Coat / how large compressor. ?
Done it before ? A Pro ?
Rubbed down with 320 dry paper & then epoxy primed. Rubbed down primer & that took nearly a whole day. Block sanded primer as good as I could.
First layer is 2 coats of a grainy silver, 10 minutes later 2nd layer of what looks like blood but is a tinted clear & the 3 coats of clear with 15 minute intervals.
Not sure of the gun but it has the pot above the trigger part.
First time he painted with this paint & was advised not to attempt the job due to the difficulty of getting the base coats to look even. He's a plumber but has painted different stuff like boats, road-race sidecars & quite a few bikes.
I'll fit it onto the bike & after 3-4 weeks wet sand down to 2000 grit & give it a good polish.

Found an axed tank that fits my new build great yesterday. Seat is for mock up and I'll be making a new one that sits further forward. I have to raise the front of the tank and make a piece to fill the gap tomorrow then on to controls....waiting on mid brackets from Monstercraftsman to build off of. Headlights are on order too.

Nice --Everyone's Choice ..but don't really see the need to raise the tank in front

In the pic the tank is already raised....propped it up on the steering neck with the tab. I prefer the frisco look personally and if I mount it the way the tank was designed I'm going to possibly have interference with the coil anyway.

Thank You Sir
On the pictures it looks as Show Class paint . Is there really a need for the final sanding and polish
Furthermore what brand paint is used.
I have a small compressor so I am planning to try paint more.

"A place to post up what'cha been doing in the garage or on the road. As always show us the pics!" gggGary

Today I gave her a wash
then got out the carnauba wax and waxed her.
lubed the drive chain
checked oil
ordered a new front master cylinder that looks retro instead of the modern one I have now. It will look much better and work well too.
Finished my tailpiece and started working on removing the pinch weld on the stock fuel tank.
