Alternator yellow wire?

Hi my loom and bike is a bit of a mix of things and while stripped loom back to tidy things up (on the bench) I realised the yellow wire next to the alternator plug was only connected to another plug that wasnt being used. Am I right in thinking the yellow wire is only used when a safety relay is used? Mine doesnt have the relay.
The reg/rectifier is a modern aftermarket solid state type if that makes a difference.

Yes the yellow wire output is about 6 volts AC only closes the latching relay.

Brilliant thank you. I was curious about the output being un-rectified and at 1st thought it needed a feed in to excite the alternator (car guy lol)
