Morning guys ,it's afternoon here on the east coast of the UK and my newly purchased 72 has just been delivered.
This is the second one I've owned having regretfully selling the last one in 2018.
I will have lots of questions I'm sure as I've forgotten most of what I knew which wasn't much anyway,
So for now a few pictures of the bike and all comments welcome,it's not In bad condition at all, chrome is good
Tyres are shot ,needs paint and front brake hoses, I'm not sure of the side panel badges I've never seen these
On a 72 ,and the handlebars are not as high as on my previous one ,this was imported from the states ( not by me) about 2 years ago and cost me
About 2600 us dollars.

Thats a decent looking ride @yellowdog
Could be a not too expensive daily rider; or a relatively easy resto job money permitting.

Very nice! My favorite year! Side panel badges are correct and the tank badge tabs appear to have been molded in. I don’t know about your bars, kinda hard to tell. I’ve seen XS2s with different bars. IMG_2426.jpeg

Tank looks correct but the gas cap does not.

Needs proper seat, grab rail.. t-signals... correct candy paint.... tank will need to be striped... hopefully tank badge holes are not welded .... bars look good.... side cover is wrong year.... not sure if the side cover center badges have the same location holes... all of these issues can be easily addressed... the Xs2 is the most handsome of the Xs series... I think the biggest model year numerically manufactured during the production run.... ? 😎

Maybe I'm missing something that others are seeing, but your side cover badges are NOT correct. They are from a 1973. The correct badges are shown in Wingedwheel's picture in his post, above.
I stand corrected as I didn’t look very close. DB is correct. I forgot they made that little change in 73 And looking closer at the tank I can see where someone used bondo to fill in the badge depressions. Might be an easy clean-out.

Good morning again ,it's a very warm day here 21'c in October!
I've had a good look at the bike this morning and a few things are a bit clearer ,side panel badges definitely wrong I can see where the original ones were fitted ,I guess these ones were used as a substitute, if I can get the proper ones they will be replaced, fuel cap looks like an aftermarket one didn't notice that until GLJ saw it,I have a grab rail already and the seat look original to me .I also have an original paint side panel so I can match the paint
The engine no is 116781
Frame no is 206911 so obviously not matching, Frame looks like it has been powder coated recently ,is this a problem ?
Any tips or advice always welcome so please keep them coming
Thanks

Thanks but I think postage costs would be far too high
William ( @DogBunny ), Have you looked into PirateShip? Been using 'em about 6mo or so. Their rates are about 40 - 50% less than going to the actual shipper. I've shipped overseas with 'em and was surprised at how much cheaper it is.
Makes overseas affordable again.

Jim, thanks for the head-up. I have a PirateShip account, but I never use it. I use ShipStation instead:
https://www.paypal.com/signin?returnUri=https://www.paypal.com/shiplabel/create/
which is a part of PayPal, or so it seems. It's been a while since I did a price comparison, so I just did one now, and nothing has changed: PirateShip and ShipStation cost exactly the same, foreign or domestic, USPS or UPS. However, I find the ShipStation interface to be much easier to use. I've been using ShipStation since forever.
